1991, a Belgian hardcore techno hit enflamed the rave parties all over the World. “James Brown is dead”: the anthem was quite ironical and provocative. In people’s mind in the late 90s, James Brown could simply not die!…

I will always remember Mister James Brown on Palais des Congrès stage in Paris, Summer 2004. The year of his 70th birthday. The year Ray Charles, I had seen on the same stage, was dead... One minute of silence in the middle of 2 hours of power and music.

“Mister Dynamite” was not jumping and spinning anymore on his feet as the Soul kid used to do decades ago. But the voice, the energy and mischievousness were untouched!

He was ruling his orchestra and choir with a true master hand. And the audience was in flame!

Being "born to Heaven" the night of the Christ's birth celebration... There could have been a worse opportunity for a "Godfather"!...

We all miss you a lot Mister Brown.

Thanks for your great contribution to Black and Universal music! Thanks for the inspiration you have been giving to Soul, Funk, Blues, and therefore House music...

Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles... and today James Brown: the angels are gifted!

Hope you really “feel good” Godfather!
